Happy #GivingTuesday!
Happy #GivingTuesday!
For any of you who may not know, #GivingTuesday, entering its seventh year, is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

What do I love about #GivingTuesday? Building a global movement around generosity and what becomes possible when we access our best selves is just super cool! (And, I’m a huge fan of Asha Curran and her genuine, authentic smarts.)
My career and life paths have been winding. At the heart of it all – a curiosity about generosity, resourcing needs to build stronger and healthier communities, and why people give. I love giving stories and hearing what motivated others. Today, I’m sharing my #GivingTuesday (for 2018) story. In truth, I’m committed to year-round giving that is responsive to and supportive of the needs of organizations doing impactful work. That, in my opinion, doesn’t stop me from joining in today’s movement.
Here’s who I’m giving to today. I invite you to check them out, ask questions about how they do their work and why, and consider making a financial contribution to them as well.
Berks Sinfonietta. I was introduced to Berks Sinfonietta by the incredibly talented James Gilmer. Their first and current fundraising campaign is to support a concert planned for February 2019, honoring and celebrating Black History Month. Berks Sinfonietta will collaborate with Lincoln University and Vox Philia to present the regional premier of Florence Price’s Symphony in E Minor”. Price was the first black woman to graduate from New England Conservatory and her music deserves to be far better known. I invite you to learn more about Berks Sinfonietta and consider making a financial contribution. Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition. The Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition (BCWAC) formed in 2008 as an advocacy and education project of the Bucks County Women’s Fund and was designated as a 501(c)(4) organization in 2015. I have proudly partnered with and have served on the Board of Directors of this fine organization that is focused on principles-based systems change for the good of families and communities. A non-partisan approach, paired with a dogged commitment to achieving results makes the work of this organization both vital and effective. I encourage you to learn more about the BCWAC and make a financial contribution. Please click HERE to learn more and donate. Thank you!
Creating the Future. Catalytic Thinking is a practice that I follow in my work and my life. It has informed how I listen, engage, plan, make decisions, build collaborative partnerships, and impact communities. Creating the Future gave me the language to articulate this practice and, today, I am proud to be a Fellow and Faculty Member. This collection of people around the world, supports each other in determining how much more humane the world could be if the questions embedded in all systems were bringing out the best in people. As you consider your end-of-year giving, I invite you to learn more about Creating the Future and make a financial contribution. Please click HERE to learn more and to donate. Thank you!
Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County. I’m about a month into serving as interim executive director with the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County. Building flourishing individuals, families, and communities is a cause that I’m deeply passionate about and working with this organization is a gift. The staff here are so dedicated – no matter the circumstances. The Board of Directors cares deeply about the mission, the organization, and the staff who are getting the work done. To serve in this role and have the opportunity to bring out the best in this staff and support them in building the best programs and services for the community they serve is… again, a gift. During this season of giving, I invite you to learn more about the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County and make a financial contribution. Please click HERE to learn more and to donate. Thank you!
KidsPeace. This year, I have helped launch the Southeast PA Board of Advisors for KidsPeace. Founded in 1882, KidsPeace gives hope, help, and healing to children, adults, and those who love them. Services are dedicated to the behavioral and mental health needs of children, families, and communities. They include a unique psychiatric hospital, a comprehensive range of residential treatment programs, accredited educational services, and a variety of foster care and community-based treatment programs. During this season of giving, I invite you to learn more about KidsPeace and consider making a financial contribution. Please click HERE to learn more and to donate. Thank you!
Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations. I have worked within the nonprofit sector for over 20 years. I love the sector, the potential for collaboration with other sectors, and the ability to play a fundamental role in building healthy communities in which individuals flourish. My work with the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO), including serving as a Board member for 7 years, has afforded me the opportunity to support the sector within Pennsylvania and be part of a national network. Investing in this network is investing in our communities. I invite you to learn more about PANO and make a financial contribution. Please click HERE to learn more and to donate. Thank you!
It's #GivingTuesday! Let the giving begin (or continue). Whatever your norm, join the movement!
Thanks!
